Editorial notes

The booklet published in Singapore can be divided into three parts.

1. the syair celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, written in 1887.
2. speeches given in Malacca on the occasion of the jubilee celebrations.
3. Syair Penambahan, an instructional poem describing the best approach to develop skills in reading and writing.

Only the first part is included here.
