- The critical edition made by Sitti Hawa drew on four manuscripts:
- [base] Cod. Or. 5443, University of Leiden Library -- compiled by van der Tuuk on the basis of the two manuscripts in the Royal Asiatic Society.
- [A] Raffles Malay 42 (MS A), Royal Asiatic Society, London -- copied in or before 1812.
- [B] Raffles Malay 8 (MS B), Royal Asiatic Society, London -- copied after 1807, probably about 1810.
- [C] MS no. 41, University of Malaya Library, Kuala Lumpur -- copied 1815 or 1816.
- Sitti Hawa based her text on the Leiden manuscript, filling some lacunae from MS C, and correcting readings against MS A, B and C. She provides detailed notes of variant readings.
- The markings used by Siti Hawa to indicate additions and omissions have been standardised in the MCP text. Thus
