- The edition by Kratz & Adriyetti is a carefully annotated critical edition, which follows fairly diplomatic principles. Additions supplied from Or.6138 and editorial adjustments are fully indicated.
- Kutipan dari Pengenalan karangan Kratz & Adriyetti:
- Yang jelas, "Surat Keterangan Syeikh Jalaluddin" merupakan sebuah dokumen sejarah yang unik dan sebuah dokumen sastra yang dapat dibandingkan secara positif dengan karangan berbentuk biografi dan autobiografi sezamannya seperti Hikayat Nakhoda Muda yang disusun pada tahun 1788. Patut diingat juga, bahawa SKSJ ini mendahului Hikayat Abdullah paling kurang sepuluh tahun ... dan SKSJ jauh lebih tua daripada karangan-karangan autobiografi yang terkenal, Tarikh Datu' Bentara Luar yang disusun pada tahun 1883, dan 1914.
